
Getting Your PCB Line Moving Faster with Gallium Iodide Lamps
If you’ve spent any time on a PCB factory floor, you know the drill. The curing and exposure stage is usually where everything slows down. We built our Gallium Iodide (GaI) lamps to fix that. Unlike those old-school mercury lamps, GaI tech shifts the light spectrum. What does that actually mean for you? It means the light digs deeper into your photoresists. It hits those specialized inks and coatings harder and faster.
The Nitty-Gritty
Here is how it works: we excite gallium atoms in an iodide halide mix to get a concentrated punch of UV-A and UV-B. We keep the wavelength tolerances incredibly tight. Why? Because nobody wants to deal with over-cured boards or bleeding edges. It’s a high-intensity output that lets you crank up the conveyor speed without worrying about quality. Now, these things run hot. Really hot. To stop them from burning out prematurely, we use heavy-duty quartz envelopes. And because we know downtime is a nightmare, we made these modular. If a tube goes, you just swap it out. You don’t have to tear down your entire exposure line just to fix one lamp.
Making it Work in Your Shop
We don’t just sell you a bulb and wish you luck. We provide full modules. We pair them with matched ballasts so you don’t have to deal with flickering or those nasty voltage spikes that fry equipment. Plus, the footprint is designed to slide right into most standard PCB exposure frames. It’s a pretty simple swap. But a word of warning: all that power creates heat. You’re getting UV, but you’re also getting a lot of infrared radiation. If your cooling fans or chilled water loops aren’t up to the task, your substrates might warp. Keep a close eye on your ambient temperature. It’s not worth ruining a batch of boards because the room got too sweaty.
