
Getting Your UV Lamps Actually Right
Most suppliers treat UV lamps like lightbulbs—they just ship you a tube and wish you luck. We don’t do that. We’d rather spend the time acting as your technical partners to make sure the lamp we build actually works with your specific ink and the speed your line is running.
It’s all about the energy
Curing isn’t as simple as just flipping a switch. You need a very specific dose of energy hitting that ink. If you decide to crank up your conveyor speed, you can’t keep the same setup. You’ll either need more wattage or a tighter lamp footprint. Otherwise, you’re going to end up with wet ink and a lot of wasted material. And a quick tip:**watch your measurements.**We build custom lengths because even a 5mm gap between the lamp and the reflector can create “cold spots.” That’s how you get uneven curing and ink that just peels right off.
Picking the right glass
The quartz glass we use decides which wavelengths actually reach the ink. If you need a deep cure, we go with high-purity fused silica to get that UV-C penetration. But if you’re working with plastics that melt if you look at them wrong, we can tweak the spectrum. It keeps the ink dry without warping your PET or PVC sheets. But here is the catch: more power means more heat. If your cooling blowers aren’t up to the task, a high-wattage tube will turn your substrate into a melted mess. It’s a balancing act.
Making it work in the real world
We make sure our lamps are easy drop-in replacements. The pins and connectors will match your ballast perfectly, so you aren’t messing around with wiring. We also obsess over the stability of the arc. Why? Because a flickering lamp leaves stripes in your print. And nobody wants to ship a job that looks like a zebra. Now, let’s be honest.
